Our research team considers mobility in studying and research to be vital. In addition to promoting research stays, the center actively promotes cultural visits to institutions and exhibits as well as trips for the purpose of presenting projects and advances in investigation.

The research team of the MANES Research Center traveled to the site where Editorial Hernando was founded in order to see the permanent exhibit there illustrating the foundation and extensive trajectory of this publishing house that dedicated so many years to the publication of school textbooks. Visit to the Portuguese educational centers Liceu Passos Manuel, the Escuela Joao de Deus and the Escola Superior de Educaçâo de Lisboa by a group of professors from the MANES Research Center. Professors Miguel Somoza, Ana Badanelli, María del Mar del Pozo and Gabriela Ossenbach, members of the MANES Research Center, visited several of Lisbon’s historical schools. February 2009.

Berlanga de Duero, Soria. From 3 to 7 May 2010. The researchers of the MANES Research Center and professors in the Department of the History of Education and Comparative Education of the UNED Miguel Somoza and Ana Mª Badanelli participated in a week-long research stay at the Centro Internacional de la Cultura Escolar (CEINCE) thanks to the research grants that this center offers. Thus they were able to access and examine school textbooks and other materials from the vast collection of the center’s library.

Research stay by professor Kira Mahamud Angulo at the Centro Internacional de la Cultura Escolar (CEINCE).
The researcher from the MANES Research Center and Assistant Professor at the Department of the History of Education and Comparative Education of the UNED, Kira Mahamud Angulo, participated in a week-long research stay (24 to 28 May 2010) at the Centro Internacional de la Cultura Escolar (CEINCE). This was the scholar’s second such stay, made possible by the grants that this center offers. The researcher was able to consult and examine school textbooks and other materials contained in the vast collection of the center’s library. In this case, the subject of investigation was that of her doctoral thesis, which focuses on emotional education in childhood and on maternity as a symbolic phenomenon and how these are reflected in schoolbooks from the early years of the dictatorship.

Research stay by the predoctoral student Yovana Hernández Laina at the Universidad Nacional de Luján, Argentina.
The sponsorship of predoctoral mobility conceded in 2016 by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad for research stays in I+D centers abroad made possible a research stay of three months as part of the HISTELEA Project of the University of Luján, Argentina. Activities carried out during this stay included the analysis of Argentinian textbooks from the collections “Luis Iglesias” of the University of Luján, from the Biblioteca del Docente in Buenos Aires and from the Biblioteca Nacional de Maestros (National Teachers’ Library). The objective of this research was to delve further into the study of the processes of transition in democracy; the kind of political socialization that schools transmit via their textbooks; and concepts and aspects of “economic culture” offered by the school and their contribution to the development of civic values and commitments as well as their potential for encouraging in students the development of critical thought and the social participation of future citizens

Program of teacher exchanges ERASMUS by professor Kira Mahamud at the University College of Southeast Norway.
Professor Kira Mahamud took a teacher’s stay at the University College of Southeast Norway from 19 to 23 September 2016. There she gave master classes to undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral students at the Humanities and Education Faculty of the Vestfold Campus.
